Progress

My progress between the informative speech and the persuasive speech is descent. I improved on reducing the number of times i said "uh" or "um," I reduced the number of times i fidget with my hands, and I improved on the overall length of my speech. I still need to work on hand gestures, and I need to work on my eye contact with the audience.

Demonstrative Speech

This speech went much better than my previous speeches. I made much better eye contact, only 1 person told me I looked at them less than twice. Another thing I did better was reducing the number of times I said "um," i had a lot of enthusiasm, and the last thing that went much better was the fact that I was not one bit nervous for my speech.

I still need to improve on the length of my speeches, and not saying any of the three words "like," "uh," or "um." I feel I will do even better on my next speech.

my informative speech was not very good. the only thing i improved on was more eye contact. i was unenthusiatic, i was fidgeting, i was nervous, i said like or uh a lot, and my speech was only 2:57 in length. I also started off my speech telling everyone I was lazy and that is why I picked my topic. My next speech needs to go much better.

brown bag speech

Before i stood up in front of the class to give my speech, I felt fine. No nerves or anything. But when i stood in front of the class and I looked up and everyone looked at me, it was like a big wave hit me and I started to get nervous. The things that went wrong was the time my speech took, which was only a minute and fifteen seconds, and I kept fidgeting the entire time because I was nervous. The things that went well were my items were legit, and i made the class laugh at least a couple of times. I can improve my speaking by not fidgeting as much, and extending the time of my speech.

Act 1 Scene 2- Taming of the Shrew

Petruchio- Richard Gere, because he can play a feminine male who is in love.

Katherine- Rachel Harris, because in the hangover, she played a mean violently tempered woman.

Bianca- Mila Kunis, because in Family Guy, she plays the neglected character Meg.

Baptista- Jerry Stiller, because he is an older, funny character.

Lucentio- Adam Sandler, because he is a comedy actor who would put comic relief into the play.

Tranio- Morgan Freeman, because he is a laid back actor who would want to live life.

Gremio- Seth Rogan, because he is a comedy actor who would put comic relief into the play.

Hortensio- Patton Oswald, because he is a comedy actor who would put comic relief into the play.

Deadpan Humor - humor that is delivered without changing expression ir with no expression at all. An example od Deadpan Humor would be the "Zombie Kid Likes Turtles" video on youtube, starring a young boy who delivers the line "I like turtles" in a deadpan manner while being interviewed by a news reporter.

Malapropism - Substitution of a word for another word with a similar sound that doesn't make sense. An example of Malapropism would be a quote by George W. Bush, which was "we cannot let terrorists and rogue nations hold this nation hostile or hold our allies hostile."

Reversal - Reversal of Roles. An example of Reversal would be the movie "White Chicks," where 2 african-american men act as 2 white women for undercover police purposes.

Visual Satire - Satire expressed through political cartoons.

My name is Dallas Ford. Before you ask after reading this, no I was not named after the Dallas cowboys and or the city of Dallas, my last name has nothing to do with the car company, and I am in no relation to Henry ford. I am a junior at Anderson high school. I play soccer for Anderson (unfortunately) and I play club for Kings soccer academy. My favorite music is everything except for country or jazz. I would throw myself off the roof of this high school before i was forced to listen to country. My favorite TV shows are things like south park, Family Guy, King of the Hill, Two and a half Men, the Simpsons, the King of Queens, and Seinfeld. Some of my favorite movies are "Dumb and Dumber," "Anchorman," "Zoolander," "Coach Carter," and "Remember the Titans." On my free time I like to play soccer with friends, play video games like FIFA 10 and Modern Warefare 2, and drive wherever.I drive a 05 Ford Escape. Thats basically me in a nutshell i guess.
